GRACIELA ITURBIDE: THE MASTER CLASS
4-DAY WORKSHOP (Four Full Days) GRACIELA ITURBIDE: The Master Class
Graciela Iturbide will bring her well-known curiosity and excitement to discovering and photographing the landscape in Joshua Tree National Monument, the mysterious Salton Sea, eons-old Indian Canyons and neighborhoods in Indio, California, a largely Hispanic community 30 minutes from Palm Springs. Graciela will present her work, discuss her approach and most importantly, share her enthusiasm for her work on location for this rare workshop.
Watch her as she demonstrates her approach to her principal subjects of the moment: landscape and portraiture, imbued with spirituality, connected to the unique energy and opportunities presented for her camera in these unique locations, locations that she’s never visited. She will actually photograph, as will the students in this class, over a three-day period. There will be time for discussion and critique.
This will be a potentially life-changing experience for those open to the idea of exploring this world-famous artist’s process – learn how she photographs and how every fiber of her life experience and curiosity informs her approach to work.
Photographers working with digital cameras should bring their laptops and be conversant with their hardware and software in order to facilitate downloading and projecting their work for critiques in this workshop. Digital projectors with standard VGA cables will be provided. If you require DVI connectors and / or adapters, please bring one to class.
Fuji Films will provide reasonable amounts of film to participants of this workshop. The A & I lab in Hollywood will process and proof films from this workshop at no charge.
Note: Graciela speaks Spanish; her English is good but not 100% fluent. Her bi-lingual friend and confidant, Beatrice Mackenzie, will accompany Graciela on this workshop and act as translator.
Monday, March 28 – Thursday, March 31, 9:00am – 4:00pm
